About
Decorate a wall with this antique ceramic fountain from Normandy. Crafted in Rouen, France, circa 1890, the decorative three-piece set is complete with basin, reservoir with metal spout, and lid. The faience lavabo, shaped as a shell, is hand-painted with floral and foliage decor in a Classic white, blue, red and yellow palette. The floral design includes a bouquet of flowers on the inside of the bowl and on the front of the reservoir. The fountain is in excellent condition with rich colors, and would be a charming addition to any room. The basin could also be used as a planter to hold flowers.
The wash basin or lavabo was a typical piece found in French homes before running water was available. It consists normally of an ewer or container of some kind to pour water, and a bowl to catch the water as it falls off the hands.
Measures: Basin: 18″ W x 11.5″ D x 3.5″ H
Water container: 9.5″ W x 5.5″ D x 16″ H.
