Early 20th Century French Louis XV Carved Walnut and Leather Desk Armchair
Decorate a study or office with this elegant antique desk chair. Hand crafted in Provence, France circa 1920, and shaped as a corner sitting, the armchair stands on cabriole legs decorated with floral motifs at the shoulder, and ending with hoof feet. The fauteuil features a curved and arched back decorated with carved floral and acanthus leaf motifs at the pediment. The Louis XV armchair with closed armrests is embellished with foliage and leaf decor throughout the frame over a scalloped bombe apron embellished with hand carved foliage decor. The curved armrests with leather padding on both sides are also decorated with acanthus leaves along the base. The comfortable deep seat and wide back are upholstered with a patinated brown leather, and garnished with decorative brass nail heads. The armchair is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich walnut patina; it would add a touch of authentic French flair to a home of any style. Small wear discoloration on the seat. Measures: 27″ W x 27″ D x 35″ H.
