Early 20th Century French Pastel on Canvas Cow Painting Signed C. Hugrel,1923
Set in the original carved gilt frame and protected with clear glass, the large cow pastel painting was created in Burgundy, France in the first quarter of the 20th century, titled “cattle by the river” and painted on canvas, the colorful art work depicts four cows drinking in a river with landscape and village in the background. The piece is signed on the lower left corner by the artist Claude Honore Hugrel, and dated 1923. The important painting is in excellent condition with rich colors and the original glass and gilt frame. A wonderful addition for a ranch or hunting lodge. Listed in the Benezit. Claude Honoré Hugrel (1880-1944) was a French landscape and cattle painter who worked in oil, gouache and pastel. He was born in Macon, Burgundy in 1880 and died in the same city in 1944.
