About
This antique fruitwood “armoire provencale,” is truly exceptional. Crafted in France, circa 1760, this tall cabinet features exquisite carvings including the top pediment with a pair of doves facing each other, and a nest with three birds surrounded by flowers, fruit, acorns and leaves. In addition, the carved apron on the bottom features the traditional pierced Provencal vase with flowers and leaves and is finished with elegant scrolled feet at the base. Both doors have hand-carved flowers, and are embellished with Louis XVI ribbon bows and laurel leaves. The bonnet top cabinet has its original shelving, lock, cremaillere and key and heavy forged hardware. This armoire is not only a useful, beautiful piece of furniture, it’s a true museum quality piece. Excellent condition with rich walnut patina. Measure: 59″ W x 24.5″ D x 106″ H.
