Large Pair of 19th Century French Horns Cornucopia Vases with Brass Mounts
$1,600
About
This pair of large, antique drinking horns were crafted in France, circa 1880. The authentic, curved cornucopias are mounted on round, brass stands, and also feature a brass top and lid. The brass additions are decorative, and the lids resemble classical urns. Each vase is in wonderful condition and has a rich old patina. Place these pieces on a mantel, or in a man’s study or library. (Drinking horns are known from classical antiquity especially the Balkans, and remained in use for ceremonial purposes throughout the middle ages and the early modern period in some parts of Europe, notably in Germanic Europe, and also in traditions of the Caucasus). Measures: 14″ W x 24″ H. SKU: 153-237
