Late 19th Century French Louis XV Carved Chestnut Desk Table with Drawers
This elegant antique fruit wood desk was created in the Poitou region of France, circa 1880. Made of chestnut timber and rectangular in shape, the writing table sits on four cabriole legs, over a scalloped apron decorated with hand carved floral and leaf motifs on the back side. The front features two drawers dressed with iron pulls, and a wide opening with plenty of knee space and comfort to pull a chair in. Both sides with scalloped edges are embellished with recessed panels. The long and wide top has specious surface to work on. The large writing table is in excellent condition with a rich walnut patina. Finished on all four sides, the desk could also be placed in the middle of a study or library. Measures: 73.75″ W x 31″ D x 30.5″ H.
