Louis XV Carved 28 Wine Bottle Holder Cabinet with “Chateau Margaux”
This elegant, antique wine storage cabinet was crafted in western France using old timber. The tall, simple pine cabinet sits on four small scroll feet under a scalloped apron. The useful, rustic storage cabinet features seven shelves with decorative carvings; each row holds five bottles, for a total of 35 wine bottles. The wine holder has the words “Chateau Margaux” printed on the front, is in excellent condition and has a rich walnut patina. This shelving unit would make a helpful addition to a kitchen, dining room or wine cellar.
Château Margaux, originally La Mothe de Margaux, is a wine estate of Bordeaux wine, and was one of four wines to achieve Premier cru (first growth) status in the Bordeaux Classification of 1855. The estate’s best wines are very expensive, with a standard-sized bottle of the Château Margaux grand vin retailing at an average price of $639. The estate is located in the commune of Margaux on the left bank of the Garonne estuary in the Médoc region, in the department of Gironde, and the wine is delimited to the AOC of Margaux.
