Mid-18th Century French Carved Black and Grey Marble Shell Stoup

Carved in France, 1750, this elegant shell shaped dish was originally at the entrance door of a private chapel, in its original placement, this stoup was inserted in the wall and was used to hold the Holy Water. The black and grey marble church recipient is in excellent condition and has a rich, aged patina. Re-purpose this small antique piece to be a soap holder in a powder room, a shallow plant vase or use it as a vide-poche to catch loose change. Measures: 9.25″ W x 8″ D x 3.5″ H.
