Mid-18th Century French Louis XVI Carved Giltwood Wall Barometer Selon Toricelli
This elegant, antique Louis XVI barometer was crafted in Paris, France, circa 1760. The large oval shaped wall piece features its original hand-painted parchment paper barometer with French inscriptions written in Indian ink. The frame is adorned with foliage and laurel leaf motifs, and topped at the pediment with carved, gold leaf floral decor embellished with the Louis XVI ribbon bow. The mechanism is protected with a glass panel. This beautiful decorative piece is in impressive, original condition and has a rich patinated gilt finish including a black lacquered band around the perimeter. Highly decorative, this French barometer circa 1780 will enliven any wall beautifully. Measures: 21″ W x 32″ H.
