Mid-18th Century Italian Venetian Painted Bombe Chest of Drawers with Marble Top
This elegant antique commode was crafted in Venice, Italy circa 1760, standing on four curved legs over a scalloped apron, the chest has two bombe drawers across the front decorated with hand painted floral motifs. The top is dressed with a Jerusalem gold marble surface of latter addition, and the curved sides also feature hand painted motifs with chinoiserie decor. The commode is in excellent condition with the original painted finish in the beige, blue, red and yellow pastel colors. Both drawers have been upholstered with stripe silk fabric. Key included.
