About
Place this elegant antique prayer chair in your bedroom for daily devotions. Crafted in France, circa 1870, the traditional kneeler stands on scrolled feet over a scalloped apron. The back features exquisite carvings decorated with acanthus leaf and floral motifs including a large sun in the center. The wide top, with hand woven “Tout a Dieu” (All to God in English), and the large cushioned knee seat with a large handwoven cross and floral decor, are upholstered with the original needlepoint tapestry, and dressed with decorative brass nail heads. The tall religious “Prie-Dieu” (French for Praying God) is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich walnut patina. Small blemish on tapestry (see picture). 20″W x 18″D x 36″H
