About
This heavily carved antique Black Forest sideboard (circa 1860) was found in a chateau in northern France. Hand crafted of rosewood and walnut, the highly detailed cabinet, features exquisite carvings in high relief throughout. The top section features an important hand carved fruit basket motif at the pediment, over two long display shelves across decorated with dolphin figure at each end, further embellished with scroll, acanthus leaf and foliage motifs. The center panel features beautiful marquetry decor. The lower section with rounded sides has four drawers across the front, over four doors embellished with carved bird trophies, garden tool and hunting gear, and four male and female figures over each door. The inside reveals shelving and plenty of additional storage. The grand cabinet is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich two-tone walnut patina. Place this spectacular credenza in a large entry of a hunting lodge or in a dining room in any ranch style house. A true one of a kind with incredible thick carvings! Measure: 79″ W x 26″ D x 94″ H.
