This exquisite, antique fruitwood panetiere was carved in the south of France, circa 1850. In 18th century Provence, the panetiere was used as a practical wall cabinet in which freshly made bread was stored. The decorative cabinet is beautifully embellished on all sides and has an elegant Silhouette. Among other features, the piece has a serpentine front, arched top, and carvings including a flower basket and floral motifs at the top, and a classical vase at the bottom. The bread box has a carved central door flanked by turned spindles and a crown of nine finials on the sides and top. The bottom of the cabinet has delicate scrolled feet. Overall, the piece is in excellent condition with its original hardware and rich walnut patina. Measures: 33.25″ W x 18″ D x 41″ H. SKU: 172-195
