Mid-19th Century French Walnut Round Tilt-Top Wine Tasting Table from Burgundy
Add a touch of the French lifestyle to your home with this elegant antique fruitwood “Table de Vigneron” (French for wine tasting table). Crafted in Burgundy, circa 1860, this kind of table was popular in the wine growing regions of France, as it was used each year in the wineries for connoisseurs to taste the new vintage. Round in shape, the wine cellar essential has a twisted central base and is seated on two hand-carved legs shaped as lyres. The tilt-top surface is covered with its original plastic cloth. In traditional form, these wine tasting tables were covered with plastic table cloths, and then cheese and wine were served directly on top. This classic find would make a sophisticated, historically relevant addition to a wine cellar, or dining room. The wine tasting table is in excellent condition with a rich walnut patina.
