Mid-20th Century French Patinated Bronze Horse on Marble Base After J. Moigniez
Decorate a man’s office or library shelf with this elegant bronze horse sculpture, created in France circa 1950, the sculpture is highly detailed depicting a race horse standing on an oval black and grey marble base. The piece is in excellent condition with a rich, aged patinated finish. The sculpture is signed on the front “J. Moigniez”. A wonderful accent piece to decorate a man’s desk, or to place in any ranch house or hunting lodge! Jules Moigniez (1835-1894) was a French animalier (animal) sculptor who was active during the 19th century. His output was primarily cast in bronze and he frequently exhibited his sculptures at the Paris Salon. He was best known for his bronzes depicting birds, although his skill and versatility enabled him to produce quality horse sculptures (primarily racehorses), dog sculptures and hunting scenes.
