Mid-20th Century French Wine Vault Painting in Gilt Frame Signed Mathieu, 1931
Decorate a wine cellar or a restaurant with this antique wine barrel composition; created in Burgundy, France, the large art work is set in the original carved gilt frame. It depicts a wine vault with large oak barrels stacked, and a wine maker checking the new vintage. The painting is signed in the lower right corner by the artist, A. Mathieu and dated 1931. The piece was made for the Macon Beaux Art exposition of 1933, and titled “Cellier en Maconnais” (see label in the back). The artwork is in excellent condition and is protected with glass. Measures: 36″ W x 27.5″ H.
