Mid-20th Century Spanish Carved Polychromed and Gilt “Last Supper” Sculpture
$975
About
The “Last Supper” composition sculpture was created in Spain circa 1950; made of one piece of oak, the colorful piece depicts the last supper with Christ and His twelve disciples around the table. The religious sculpture adorns the original paint with some gilt accents; it is in excellent condition with wonderful details, and a rich patinated polychrome finish. HOC EST ENIM CORPUS MEUM, meaning “This Is In Fact M Body”. With these words spoken by the priest, the Catholic is taught the wafer of bread turns into the true body of Jesus. So Catholics are actually taught that the priest has it in his power to transform bread and wine into God! Measures: 21″ W x 16.5″ H.
