This massive and colorful vintage fishbowl was created in China, circa 1970. Round in shape and standing on a carved fruitwood base, this elegant exotic porcelain planter features hand painted medallions with Chinese figural motifs and embellished with floral and leaf decor throughout. The ceramic vase is painted on the inside as well with a traditional koi fish illustration and floral motif. The piece separates into a bowl and stand, with the bowl standing at 8 inches high by itself. Overall, this beautiful Asian piece is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns wonderful colors in the red, pale green and orange palette; it is further embellished with gilt accents. This attractive bowl with impressive scale is a must-have for a traditional style home, or for the chinoiserie collector.
