About
This massive and colorful vintage fishbowl was created in China, circa 1970. Round in shape and standing on a carved fruitwood base, this elegant exotic porcelain planter features two large hand painted medallions with Chinese figural motifs and embellished with floral and leaf decor throughout. The ceramic vase is painted on the inside as well with a traditional koi fish illustration motif. The piece separates into a bowl and stand, with the bowl standing at 8 inches high by itself. The large planter has a six-character Qianlong mark on the underside for further authentication. Overall, this beautiful Asian piece is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns wonderful colors in the red, pale green and orange palette. This attractive bowl with impressive scale is a must-have for a traditional style home, or for the chinoiserie collector. Measures: 21″ diameter, 27″ height (total height including base).
