Mid-Century French Carved Elm Octagonal and Marquetry Center Table
This elegant vintage table was crafted circa 1970. Built of solid elm enhanced with a beautifully distressed patina throughout, the table top stands on a sturdy trestle base under elegant buttress supports, reminiscent of the grand European cathedrals of antiquity. The unique octagonal top is embellished with a geometric design that radiates out from a center circular medallion. The large surface could accommodate a bust, a large vase, or any decorative porcelain “Piece de Forme” in a large entryway or hall; it could also be placed in a breakfast nook or small dining area to seat up to five people. The heavy pedestal table is in excellent condition and adorns a rich walnut patina with wonderful distress. Measures: 49″ Diameter, 30″ H.
