$3,900
About
Dress a dining or breakfast table with this elegant suite of side chairs! Crafted in France circa 1970 and made of beech wood, each chair stands on carved “Os de Mouton” (sheep bone) legs decorated with a bottom stretcher; each seating features a tall arched and pitched back, and a wide and comfortable seat. The Classic chairs are upholstered with the original patinated brown leather, and dressed with decorative brass nail heads. The Louis XIII style dining chairs are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorn a rich walnut patina throughout the frame. (Os de mouton is a design term that refers to the classic, sinuous stretchers that are a defining element of Louis XIII furniture. The shape of the chair legs is based on the shape of the legs of a lamb. The term is translated literally as “mutton bone.”) Measures: 19.5″ W x 19.5″ D x 44″ H.
