Mid-Century French Louis XV Marble Top Carved Inlaid Walnut Commode Chest
This elegant, kidney-shaped fruitwood antique commode was crafted in France, circa 1950. The commode sits on cabriole legs ending with bronze sabot mounts over the feet. The bow front, over a scalloped apron embellished with a center decorative bronze mount, features two drawers decorated with parquetry motifs and dressed with the original pulls and matching intricate escutcheons. The cabinet is further decorated with bronze mounts in the corners, and both rounded sides are also embellished with inlaid marquetry decor. The surface is dressed with the original beveled variegated marble top with olive green, tan and gray color palette. The traditional nightstand is in excellent condition with a rich walnut patina, and delicate marquetry and parquetry veneer embellishments. Versatile, the petite oval cabinet could be used as a bedside table, a side table next to an armchair, or as a small storage cabinet in a powder room. Measures: 24″ W x 15.75″ D x 28.25″ H.
