Midcentury French Louis XV Carved Walnut and Pewter Fountain Lavabo on Stand
This elegant, antique fountain was crafted in Provence, France, circa 1950. The cabinet stands on cabriole legs over a scalloped apron, and the arched bonnet top features a carved shell motif with foliage. Made of pewter, the two-piece water fountain made includes a serpentine shaped basin decorated with side handles and a carved shell on the back, and the top reservoir with lid and faucets is further decorated with an engraved coat of arms. The fountain is in excellent condition and has a rich walnut patina. In the past, this kind of lavabos was actually used for hand washing, use this piece as a planter in your entry or breakfast room (see last picture). Measures: 19.5″ W x 14″ D x 74.5″ H.
