Midcentury French Louis XV Walnut and Bronze Chest of Drawers with Marble Top
This elegant, kidney-shaped fruitwood antique chest was crafted in Paris, circa 1950. The petite commode sits on cabriole legs decorated with acanthus leaf mounts at the shoulder, and ending with brass sabot feet; it features three drawers across the front decorated with marquetry decor, and embellished with the original ormolu bronze handles. The cabinet is further decorated with ram face mounts in the corners, and both bombe sides have inlaid marquetry embellishments. The top is dressed with a variegated black and grey marble surface set inside a pierced brass gallery around the perimeter. The traditional nightstand is in excellent condition with a rich walnut patina, delicate marquetry and parquetry decor over a veneer surface. Versatile, the oval small cabinet could be used as a bedside table, a side table next to an armchair, or as a small storage cabinet in a powder room. Measures: 24.25″ W x 14″ D x 28.5″ H.
