Decorate a living room, den or office with this elegant pair of antique gilt wood bergeres. Crafted in Paris circa 1870, each important “Fauteuil de Confessional” stands on cabriole legs decorated with floral and acanthus leaf motifs at the shoulder and over the scroll feet. Each chair features a scalloped apron embellished with a carved shall and flanked with foliage, a tall pitched and arched wing back, embellished with ears on both sides, and dressed with armrests and open arms decorated with hand carved foliate motifs. The wide and deep seat are upholstered with a tan leather and dressed with decorative brass nail heads. Both large Regence fauteuils are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorn a wonderful gilt painted finish and a rich and lovely patinated brown leather. Measures: 31″W x 26″D x 41.5″H.
