Pair Early 20th Century French Louis XV Carved Gilt Painted Bergères Fauteuils
Crafted in France circa 1920, each antique armchair stands on cabriole legs decorated with floral and leaf motifs at the shoulder, and ending with escargot feet. The arched back is decorated with shell and foliage motifs, and embellished with acanthus leaves throughout the frame. The wide and deep seat is flanked with carved open armrests over an elegant scalloped apron. The comfortable bergères are in very good condition commensurate with age and use, and adorn a rich patinated gilt painted finish. Both fauteuils are upholstered with a colorful silk fabric decorated with parrot and foliage motifs, and the back has a matching checker and stripe fabric with soft colors in the red, yellow and blue palette.
