Pair of 19th Century French Louis XV Walnut Parquetry “Tambour” Nightstands
These antique bedside tables were crafted in France circa 1890; each chest sits on cabriole legs ending with bronze sabots over a scalloped apron decorated with shell and foliage motif mount. The petite Louis XV style commodes feature a top drawer dressed with decorative bronze pulls over a “tambour” style double door opening to inside shelving. The top is decorated with parquetry and inlaid geometric motifs, and four sides are also embellished with marquetry decor, with bronze hardware decor in the corners. The bedside tables are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and adorn a rich walnut patina with gilt bronze mounts throughout. Use these versatile chests as a nightstands in a bedroom or in a living room as side tables. Measures: 21″ W x 13.5″ D x 33″ H.
