Pair of 19th Century Louis XV Carved Walnut Armchairs with Leather Upholstery
Decorate a study or office with this elegant pair of antique armchairs. Crafted in Provence, France circa 1880, each comfortable fauteuil sits on cabriole legs decorated with acanthus leaves at the shoulder, and ending with escargot feet over an X-stretcher. Both armchairs have a tall and arched back, a wide and deep seat over a scalloped and pierced apron decorated with hand carved shell motif; each chair is embellished with curved armrests with acanthus leaf motifs. Both pieces are upholstered with a patinated tan leather embellished with a gilt French coat of arms. The large provincial armchairs are in excellent condition with a rich walnut patina throughout.
