Pair of Mid-19th Century French Louis XV Carved Giltwood Bergères Fauteuils
Crafted in France circa 1850, each antique armchair stands on cabriole legs decorated with floral and leaf motifs at the shoulder, and ending with escargot feet. The arched back covered with silk fabric is decorated with shell and foliage motifs, and embellished with acanthus leaves throughout the frame. Over a carved and elegant scalloped apron, the wide and deep seat is upholstered with the original stripe silk fabric including on the carved armrests. The comfortable bergères are in very good condition commensurate with age and use, and adorn a rich patinated gilt finish. Tears on the fabric in need of new upholstery. Measures: 29″ W x 22.5″ D x 41.5″ H.
