Vintage French Still Life Oil Painting on Canvas in Carved Gilt Frame
Hand painted in France circa 1980 and set in the original carved giltwood frame, the colorful art work on canvas depicts a still life scene with a terracotta cachepot filled with roses and foliage in the manner of Marcel Dyf. The painting is in excellent condition with rich colors in the green, yellow and white palette, and the frame has wonderful carvings and gilt finish. Decorate a study or powder room with this elegant antique wall decor. Marcel Dyf, whose real name was Marcel Dreyfus, was born in Paris on October 7, 1899. While he showed a talent for art at an early age, he began his adult life as an engineer, but by the age of 23 he became a professional artist.
