Crafted in Paris, France circa 1880, this refined Louis XVI style “Encoignure”, or corner vitrine, exemplifies the sophistication of 19th-century French cabinetry. Built of richly grained mahogany, the triangular case stands on fluted, tapering legs capped with gilt-bronze sabots and is topped with a shaped Carrara marble surface encircled by a pierced bronze gallery. The frieze is adorned with neoclassical gilt-bronze appliqués, including floral swags and rosettes, lending architectural harmony and decorative interest. A pair of curved glazed doors with original bombe glass open to reveal three interior display shelves, still lined with their charming red paper backing, ideal for showcasing fine porcelain, crystal, or objets d’art. The case retains its lustrous French polish finish, highlighting the depth and warmth of the mahogany grain, while finely chased ormolu mounts and delicate beaded trim underscore the cabinet’s elegant profile.
