19th C. French Louis-Philippe Mahogany Chest of Drawers with Grey Marble Top
$4,950
About
Crafted in France circa 1850, this elegant antique Louis-Philippe commode showcases the clean, rectilinear lines characteristic of the era. The chest is built of richly figured mahogany, displaying a warm and lustrous patina, and is topped with a shaped grey Saint-Anne marble slab with molded edge. The facade features a hidden frieze drawer with divided interior, over three full-length drawers, with a fourth concealed within the lower plinth molding. Each drawer is fitted with original gilt-bronze ring pulls and decorative escutcheons, with working locks and two keys. The chest is raised on shaped bracket feet for a balanced and refined profile. The piece is in very good condition commensurate with age and use; it retains its beautiful French polish finish, and the marble top shows natural veining along with a few light surface stains that enhance its antique character. This versatile commode would make a sophisticated addition to a den, entryway, or bedroom, serving equally well as a storage cabinet or statement piece. A couple of stains on the top, see detailed images. Dimensions: 49″ W x 21.25″ D x 37.25″ H.
