Pair of 19th Century French Painted Porcelain Table Oil Lamps on Bronze Bases
$1,900
About
Dress a bedroom, living room, or study with this elegant pair of antique French “lampes à pétrole”, converted to electricity and crafted in France circa 1870. Each vessel-form base is executed in fine porcelain over a soft sky-blue ground and decorated with hand-painted floral reserves featuring roses, violets, and scrolling foliage enriched with delicate gilt accents. The lamps retain their original brass collars with pierced galleries, adding a refined metallic contrast to the porcelain bodies. Both pieces are set on beautifully cast bronze bases with crisp leaf molding, which provide a sturdy foundation and elevate the decorative presence of each lamp. The wiring has been fully updated to modern standards while preserving the period character. The porcelain surfaces remain in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, showing vibrant color and well-preserved gilding. Shades are shown for styling purposes only and are not included. Measures: 5.75″ diameter, 20″ height.
