Early 20th Century Austrian Black Forest Antler Bench with Leather Seat
$3,600
About
This antique Alpine bench was crafted in the Black Forest tradition, likely in Austria’s Tyrolean region, circa 1930. The sculptural base is constructed entirely from naturally shed deer antlers, carefully hand-assembled into an organic yet structurally sound form. Intertwined tines and naturally curved elements create a balanced composition that reflects the refined rustic craftsmanship associated with European hunting lodge furnishings. The antler structure shows beautiful tonal variation and natural aging, enhancing its visual depth while remaining solid and stable. The rectangular seat is upholstered in rich brown leather with a well-developed patina, secured with original decorative nailhead trim along the perimeter. The leather surface displays light surface wear, scuffs, and natural variations consistent with age and use, contributing to the authentic antique character without detracting from presentation. The underside retains its original wooden support board, confirming period construction and integrity. Originally made for Alpine chalets and mountain lodges, this antique bench offers both functional seating and strong sculptural presence. Ideal for placement at the foot of a bed, in an entry hall, or as an accent piece in a lodge-style, rustic, or European country interior. The bench is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: 44.5″W x 16.5″D x 18″H
