Early 20th Century French Rouen Faience Armorial Wall Plates, Set of 3
$825
About
Decorate a kitchen wall with this charming set of three antique French faience plates. Crafted in Rouen circa 1920, each round plate features a scalloped rim and is hand painted in the traditional Rouen palette of cobalt blue, ochre, green, and iron red. The lively border is adorned with scrolling foliate and floral motifs, framing a central armorial medallion with a crowned shield, lamb motif, and banner inscribed “Rouen.”
The plates reflect the enduring influence of 18th century Rouen designs, reinterpreted in the early 20th century with bright glazes and expressive hand-painted detail. Each piece retains its original hanging device on the reverse, making them ready for wall display as a cohesive grouping or individually throughout a space.
Both decorative and collectible, this antique set is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. A wonderful addition to a kitchen, breakfast room, or gallery wall.
Dimensions: 7.5″ diameter.
