Early 20th Century French Louis XIV Walnut Dining Chairs with Leather, Set of 12
$6,900
About
Bring timeless French elegance to a dining room with this impressive set of twelve Louis XIV style dining chairs crafted in France circa 1920. Each antique chair is built of solid walnut and stands on richly carved cabriole legs joined by classic “os de mouton” stretchers, a hallmark of Louis XIV furniture design inspired by the curved shape of a lamb’s leg. The sculptural stretcher system adds both strength and decorative movement to the silhouette.
The tall arched backs and generously padded seats are upholstered in beautifully aged cognac leather secured with large patinated brass nailhead trim. The leather has developed a warm, lived-in character over time with subtle tonal variations and natural patina that enhance the authenticity and charm of the ensemble. The walnut frames adorn a rich, deep patina with elegant grain movement throughout.
Comfortable, sturdy, and visually striking, this substantial set would make a refined statement around a large farmhouse table, monastery table, or formal dining setting. The antique chairs are in good condition commensurate with age and use, and retain wonderful proportions and craftsmanship throughout.
