Pair of Mid-Century American Renaissance Revival Iron Two-Light Sconces
$1,400
About
Decorate a hallway, dining room, powder room, or library with this striking pair of mid-century American Renaissance Revival two-light wall sconces. Crafted circa 1950, each antique-style sconce features an ornate oval backplate with a richly aged gilt and painted surface, centered beneath a sculptural male mask crest and flanked by scrolling architectural details with red polychrome accents. The dramatic double candle arms are formed with bold C-scrolls and decorated with gilt ball finials, supporting scalloped shell-form bobeches with warm gold and bronze tones.
The pair is beautifully detailed throughout, with acanthus leaves, shell motifs, pierced foliate decoration, and dark patinated metalwork that gives the sconces wonderful depth and old world character. The original-style candle sleeves and flame bulbs preserve the candlelight effect while making the fixtures practical for today’s interiors. The backs retain their Edward Miller Co. manufacturing labels for further authentication. The sconces are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with visible age wear, oxidation, and a richly patinated gilt, bronze, and polychrome finish. Newly wired to U.S. standard.
