Late 20th Century French Graduated Pewter Measures with Handles, Set of 7
$750
About
This handsome set of seven vintage French pewter measures combines utilitarian design with strong sculptural appeal. Crafted in France circa 1970, the vessels descend progressively in size from a substantial handled measure to a petite miniature example, creating an attractive stepped presentation when displayed together.
Each cylindrical measure is fashioned from pewter and features a softly rolled rim, molded foot, and angular open handle. The clean, restrained forms are inspired by traditional French kitchen and tavern wares, while the dark grey pewter finish gives the group a handsome, understated presence.
Designed as a graduated set, the seven pieces vary consistently in scale and are especially effective displayed together on open shelving, a kitchen counter, bar, buffet, or within a collection of French culinary objects. Their simple lines and increasingly smaller proportions also give them a graphic, almost architectural quality.
The set is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with minor surface wear and subtle variations in patina consistent with vintage pewter.
