Full of authentic provincial character, this antique copper tea kettle features a beautifully rounded form and warm, timeworn surface. Crafted in France circa 1880, the vessel has a bulbous hand-hammered body shaped with raised horizontal bands, a sloping shoulder, and a narrow neck.

The kettle is fitted with a long, gracefully curved gooseneck spout and a large hinged swing handle, allowing it to be carried or suspended over a hearth. Decorative scroll-form brackets secure the handle to the body. A removable domed lid, embellished with graduated molding and a rounded finial, completes the traditional design. When raised, the handle gives the kettle a sculptural silhouette and an overall height of 17 inches.

Originally used for heating and pouring water beside a fireplace or cooking range, the copper vessel is now equally appealing as a decorative kitchen accessory, fireside object, or rustic flower container.

The kettle is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. Minor dents, surface variations, oxidation, and traces of verdigris contribute to its rich, naturally developed copper patina.
