19th Century French Sevres Style Ormolu Mounted Porcelain Jardinière
$1,700
About
Crafted in Paris circa 1860, this elegant antique Sèvres-style jardinière features a richly mounted gilt bronze frame paired with finely hand-painted porcelain. The circular bowl is encased in an ornate ormolu structure, raised on a fluted and twisting pedestal base over a shaped plinth, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship and balance.
The porcelain body is decorated with cobalt blue and soft green panels, centered with hand-painted reserves depicting birds perched among delicate foliage. The interior is equally refined, adorned with a charming floral bouquet composition. A pierced bronze gallery rim encircles the top, while scrolling side handles with floral and foliate detailing add movement and sculptural elegance.
The antique centerpiece is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with a beautifully preserved gilt finish and vibrant enamel decoration. This sophisticated jardinière would make a striking focal point on a dining table, console, or commode, equally suited for display or use as a decorative planter.
