Add warm color and refined French character to a desk, side table, or library with this elegant antique bouillotte lamp. Crafted in France circa 1920, the brass table lamp rests on a round base embellished with beaded borders and a fluted central stem. Three graceful scrolling arms extend from the center, each supporting a newly wired candle-form light accented with finely cast acanthus-leaf details.

The fixture retains its adjustable red-painted tole shade, decorated with delicate gilt foliage, leaf borders, and scattered insect motifs. An arrow-form handle allows the shade to be raised or lowered along the central stem, directing the light while maintaining the lamp’s distinctive silhouette. A laurel-wreath ring finial crowns the composition.

Bouillotte lamps originated in eighteenth-century France and were traditionally placed on gaming tables, where their adjustable metal shades focused candlelight downward. This later electrically wired example preserves the classic form while offering practical illumination for a contemporary interior.

The lamp is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with a rich patinated brass finish and beautifully aged red-painted shade.
