$1,800
About
This antique earthenware olive jar was created in Southern France, circa 1780. Made of blond clay and neutral in color, the terracotta vase has a traditional round bulbous shape; it is further dressed with four handles at the shoulder. The rustic, time-worn pot is embellished with a traditional Provencal green glaze around the rolled rim neck, with green drips throughout the body. Overall, this tall Provincial ceramic jar is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich, aged patinated two-tone finish with wonderful old character. Versatile, the vessel could be used as an umbrella stand next to a front door, a wonderful recipient for dry flowers, or simply display over cabinets in a kitchen or breakfast room. Measures: 15″ diameter 23.5″ height.
