19th C. Italian Renaissance Three-Piece Carved Oak Partner Desk with Leather Top
$7,900
About
Crafted in Italy circa 1870, this impressive 19th century carved oak partner desk is a striking example of Renaissance Revival artistry, designed to be finished and admired on all sides. The large rectangular surface features a rich brown tooled leather top, framed by an intricately carved oak border of scrolling foliate and floral motifs. Three spacious drawers span the front, each fitted with a working lock and key, offering practical storage for writing essentials. Below, a pair of paneled side doors on each end—also locking—opens to reveal two interior drawers, making it equally functional for two users seated opposite one another. The pedestal bases are masterfully carved with full-relief cherubic figures, stylized lion masks grasping fruit garlands, and Gothic-inspired arched panels, all resting on bold gadrooned plinth feet. The repeating carved patterns along the apron reflect the grandeur of late 19th century Italian craftsmanship, while the deep, warm oak patina reveals over 150 years of careful preservation. Built in three separate sections, the leather-topped upper case with drawers, and two pedestal bases, this substantial desk allows for easier handling and placement. Imposing yet richly detailed, this antique partner’s desk is ideal for a grand study, executive office, or library. Includes five keys with working locks. Measures: 79.5″ W x 46″ D x 32″ H.
