19th Century French Bronze Inkwell with Roman Figure on Brown Marble Base
Decorate your office desk with this large Empire style inkwell. Created in France circa 1870 and rectangular in shape, the inkwell features a bronze Roman soldier in the center sitting on a stool. On either side of the figure, are two bronze inkwells with lids. Both round inkwells have their original porcelain ink containers and are embellished with decorative caps and finials. The brown marble base with cut corners sits on round bun feet and features a deep curve at the front, which is useful to hold pens. The desk essential is in excellent condition, with wonderful details throughout, and adorns a rich patinated finish. Measure: 15.75″ W x 9″ D x 12″ H.
