About
Display your rifle or shotgun collection in this grand and intricately carved antique gun cabinet. Created in France circa 1860, this important two-piece display piece is crafted from solid oak and features a light bleached finish that enhances the natural grain and emphasizes the fine sculptural details throughout. The upper section, framed by a pronounced molded cornice, showcases the arched panel doors with their original wavy glass, flanked by deeply carved game birds, fish, and grapevine garlands. Inside, the cabinet is fitted to display up to nine long guns in an upright position, each with its own stock and barrel slot. Below, two drawers are set across the front, each adorned with carved branch-style handles. The lower cabinet doors feature striking oval medallions in high relief, each depicting a pair of lovebirds surrounded by foliage, fruiting vines, and floral carvings, framed by an intricately carved border. The interior of the lower cabinet offers additional concealed storage with a central shelf. Rich in hunting symbolism and naturalistic ornamentation, and in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, this cabinet is both a statement piece and a highly functional gun display. Guns not included. Key Included. Measures: 51.75″ W x 22.5″ D x 93″ H.
