19th Century French Empire Style Walnut Four-Door Sideboard with Marble Top
$9,900
About
Crafted in France circa 1880, this stately 19th-century Empire style sideboard is constructed from richly figured walnut and dressed with its original “Verde Alpi” marble top (also know as Alpi Green Marble). Measuring 86.5 inches wide by 20 inches deep and 39.5 inches high, the enfilade offers substantial presence and elegant functionality. The long rectangular marble slab showcases dramatic green tones with white and gray veining, adding striking contrast to the warm walnut below. The facade features four paneled doors set beneath four upper drawers, all adorned with neoclassical brass lion-head ring pulls and mounted escutcheons. Fluted pilasters with gilt-bronze capitals punctuate the verticals, while tapered legs capped in brass sabots lend a refined architectural silhouette. Inside, the cabinet provides ample storage with shelved compartments and felt-lined drawers ideal for flatware or linens. Hand-cut dovetails and traditional joinery attest to its quality craftsmanship. With its clean Empire lines and sophisticated materials, this antique buffet works beautifully in dining, living, or entry spaces. Excellent condition consistent with age and use. Four keys included.
