19th Century French Empire Upholstered and Gilt Painted Stool Bench
This elegant painted wood bench was crafted in northern France, circa 1890. The antique seat stands on carved spiral etched legs decorated with brass floral motifs at the shoulder. The bench dressed with over curved armrests is upholstered with a fine striped fabric in the beige palette, and embellished with decorative lining. The petite bench is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich patinated painted finish in the pale yellow palette; versatile, it would make a charming vanity chair in a master bathroom, used as a piano bench, or simply as extra seating in a den or living room. Measures: 29″W x 17.5″D x 24″H.
