19th Century French Louis XIII Hand Carved Walnut Pedestal Column from Burgundy
This elegant antique pedestal was crafted in the Burgundy region of France, circa 1870. Built of walnut, the tall column stands on a square plinth base over a circular, barley twist and turned stem, decorated with hand carved laurel leaf, foliage, floral motifs; it is further embellished with swag decor under the top. The square surface could accommodate a bust, a large vase, or any decorative porcelain “Piece de Forme”. The heavy pedestal table is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a a rich walnut patina. Measures: 10.75” W x 10.75” D x 38.5” H.
