About
Decorate an entryway or grand salon with this elegant antique console table crafted in France, circa 1880. The serpentine form is executed in finely carved giltwood, showcasing the graceful curves and asymmetry characteristic of the Louis XV style. The façade is richly adorned with pierced rocaille, acanthus leaves, and central shell motifs, all highlighted by a warm and luminous gilt finish with a beautifully aged patina.
The table stands on cabriole legs ending in scrolled feet, joined by an ornate stretcher centered with a carved floral cartouche, adding both stability and decorative presence. The craftsmanship is particularly evident in the deep carving and fluid transitions of the motifs, giving the piece a strong sculptural quality from every angle.
The top is fitted with a shaped slab of breche marble, featuring a rich palette of warm browns with striking fossilized inclusions and natural veining. The contoured edge follows the undulating silhouette of the base, enhancing the overall movement and elegance of the piece.
This antique console is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with a richly worn gilt patina. A statement piece ideal for an entry, living room, or beneath a large mirror.
