19th Century French Louis XVI Carved Giltwood and Beveled Wall Mirror
Decorate a powder room or an entry way with this elegant and tall antique mirror! Crafted in France circa 1870, the rectangular mirror with curved top and concave corners, features an intricate cartouche at the pediment embellished with crossed torches set inside a laurel crown, and flanked with floral motifs on both sides; it is further dressed with cone shaped finials on the sides over floral rosette medallions. The frame is decorated with carved geometric and bead motifs throughout, including acanthus leaf decor on the bottom corners. The frame is dressed with the original beveled mercury glass over the original wood backing. The versatile mirror is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich patinated gold leaf finish; it could also be placed over a mantel, or over a buffet or chest in a bedroom. New wire and hooks for easy installation. Measures: 31.5″ W x 59.5″ H.
